Here we go!

Alright, so now after years of thinking little of those who had a blog (because it is not real literature and therefore a waste of time and should not be regarded as a legitimate form of expression) I have two. Fancy that.
While I do not think of myself as a "blogger" I must admit that it is rather enjoyable to express oneself without anticipating the ensuing grade. However, being in a foreign landscape, I do not possess the proper tactics of the blogger. I also lack the ability to find something to "blog" about everyday, which I hear is the regiment. However, now that I have two blogs (the first created to update folks about my wedding) I look forward to sharing even more information about myself (through my travels in Australia). Funny how self conscious writing continues to be so popular (and addicting).
I am creating this blog as a sort of exploration in modern travel writing. Having read, and loved, many works of beloved authors (specifically those from the late 17th century through early 19th century) I am interested in how a travel journal of this young century would measure up (not very well I reckon). I am not being pretentious enough to compare myself to the likes of 'Monk' Lewis or Dorothy Wordsworth, heaven forbid, but I do want to share my experience in a new world (at least new to me) through keen eyes. I do not pretend that this is an attempt to linguistically impress my readers and I certainly do not want to give the impression that what I am producing is legitimate literature. All I am doing is sharing with my family and friends what I am up to in the southern hemisphere. One good thing that contemporary electronic journalism can do is display pictures, which I will likely be posting many of. So, here we go.
Mark and I leave on the 6th of March. We will arrive in Sydney on the 8th so there won't be too many entries until then (or the next day). I'm creating this page early so when we do get on our way there will be a place for me to write (since I am technologically challenged and need a head start). So, here's to a safe and swift trip!
